From May to July: at the moment we do not serve due to possible road closures, presence of snow and ice on the road. Rains that do not stop for several days and the offer of tourist services is almost non-existent.
Starting in October, November can be visited with less risk of road closures, there will be low temperatures, blizzards and most likely some rainy days, it is a different scenario, a little more rugged. Adventure!
December, January, is the most recommended as there is less probability of precipitation and higher temperatures. We will be able to observe a Patagonian summer scenario, with more clear days, perfect for sailing tours, more intense colors and daylight from 6 am to almost 9 pm
February continues to be a good date in terms of summer stability, with the exception that it is high season for national visitors. Book AT LEAST 6 weeks in advance, to ensure ferry tickets, tickets to PN, accommodations and look for alternatives in case the reservations are full.
March: from the second fortnight onwards, autumn begins to appear, temperatures drop again and rainy days and blizzards increase. The first half of April the deciduous foliage paints the native forests in yellow and red tones, it is a different spectacle, with a particular beauty.
The arrival of the La Niña weather phenomenon would be imminent between November 2024 and January 2025, with a 95% probability.
It promises to reduce the amount of rain but also that temperatures will remain lower than average.
In the southern zone, the phenomenon would mark a decrease in the probability of rain, which—contrary to the central zone—increases the risk of fires.
“The temperatures in the summers marked by La Niña are not extraordinarily hot,” climatologist Raúl Cordero, from the University of Santiago de Chile (Usach), tells La Tercera.
For tourists, a “cut” is made north of Coyhaique. The “northern” southern highway begins in Puerto Montt, we also pass through Hornopiren, Caleta Gonzalo, Douglas Tompinks National Park in the yellow sector, Futaleufu (cradle of rafting) ending in Queulat National Park.
The “southern” southern highway From Coyhaique to the south we pass through Cerro Castillo, Puerto Río Tranquil (neural center of the famous tour to the Marble Caverns and Laguna San Rafael National Park), Caleta Tortel and the end of the highway in Villa O’Higgins , plus the differentiator of the Patagonia NP, Jeinimeni sector (archaeological sector and homonymous lake) in Chile Chico
